In his role of leading the Technology Incubation Center (TIC) established in the top national university, (NUST) he has played an active part in building successful relationship with multiple stakeholders in public as well as private sector both locally and internationally, including US Department of Commerce (a number of successful training and capacity building programs), US Department of State (US Ambassador’s visit, VCs from Silicon Valley, GIST Tech etc), ….
National Business Incubation Association (NBIA) USA, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), World Bank (InfoDev), Asia Productivity Organization Japan, EU, South Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy, China Productivity Center Taiwan, Association of Business Incubators China, Asia Pacific Incubation Network, India, Mid East and North Africa Network, and METU Turkey. The initiatives and focused programs resulted in constant performance improvement of the center and translated into growth and new opportunities globally for the budding technology entrepreneurs.
Mr Qureshi has played a key role in launching and growing the largest National level business plan competition titled “DISCOVER – Prosperity through entrepreneurship” in which hundreds of teams compete for 4 months under industry guidance and mentorship. Mr Qureshi also was instrumental in organizing first Hackathon along with Harvard and Boston University.
His constant zeal for learning and ambition for improvement has kept him engaged in learning and networking globally. He has done MBA from Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario (the top business school of Canada and rated no.7 globally by Business Week 2012) to compliment his engineering degree. To satisfy the passion for innovation and commercialization, he has done multiple trainings, workshops, seminars and certification including World Bank (InfoDev) certification to train incubation Managers and set up incubation centers as well as World Bank (Business Edge) certification to train SME owners and managers. He has learnt through various platforms and opportunities in USA, Canada, Singapore, Turkey, Macedonia, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia and Dubai.
Akhtar Qureshi has extensive work experience in designing, launching, sustaining and growing innovation initiatives in an academic environment. He is very well aware of the challenges and opportunities presented by interaction of industry, academia and public policy. In the capacity of General Manager of Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), he has had the opportunity to influence the top management of advance education institutes, identify and engage stakeholders from government policy makers to university students and graduates. CIE has added value and has been an essential part of growth and success of many technology companies and is currently catering technology and business needs of over 20 technology companies which employ 170 knowledge workers and bringing in close to $ 3 million in revenue.
Human Behaviour Academy (HBA) is a non-profit organisation that trains candidates on skills, knowledge and attitude to deal with human attitude and behaviour. Besides, HBA develops professionalism among the practitioners.
